The Story....

The Edwin Hawkins Singers formed in Oakland, California as the Northern California State Youth Choir. Edwin created a modern arrangement for the 18th century hymn, “Oh Happy Day”, and the rest is music history. The gospel-flavored “Oh Happy Day” became a huge million-selling international hit.  It soared to #2 in the US, #1 in France, Germany and the Netherlands, #2 in Canada and the UK. “Oh Happy Day” won a Grammy Award for “Best Gospel Soul Performance” in 1970 and has become a gospel music standard.
