The Story....

Sometimes a song can make a career. That certainly was the case for Sammi Smith. In 1970 Sammi recorded the Kris Kristofferson penned “Help Me Make It Through The Night” and her life changed forever. “Help Me Make It Through The Night” shot to #1 (3 weeks) on the Country charts and crossed into the Top 10 on the Pop side. It also earned Sammi a Grammy for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance”.

Sammi would continue to have hits throughout the 70s. She was one of the few females to be part of the “Outlaw Country” movement.
